AMERICAN ROBIN

American Robin

We headed down to turf to see the American Robin, on the way to the sight we noted Rock pipit, pied wagtail and stonechat, when we arrived at the sight someone said that it had just gone out of view so we set the telescope up and started scanning for this robin.

American Robin

I saw the American Robin fly up of the ground in to the hawthorn bush were it gave some reasonable views we watched the thrush for about 10 minutes before it flew down the canal path, we all followed it but there was no more sign of this bird, when walking down looking for this thrush some man told us that there is a Glossy Ibis down by the car park so we headed down there to look for the Ibis and then after about 5 minutes of looking for this Ibis it flew in giving amazing views before it flew in the ditch and then we lost view and then just before we started heading back to the Robin sight it flew back up and started heading toward the motorway.

We walked back to the American Robin sight hoping to see it again but no luck so we took a look out on the estuary and saw this plover with really white supercilium so we were thinking that i was the American Golden Plover but we couldn’t get a proper id.  we also noted on the estuary grey plover, black tailed godwit, 4 avocets, 4 red breasted mergansers and turnstones there was probably over birds but i wanted to get back to the American Robin sight to see it again whilst looking for the Robin we saw fieldfare, redwing, sparrowhawk and then the American robin popped up giving amazing views better then in the morning you could see the white eye ring and the red breast really clear so after watching the Robin for about an hour we decided it was time to head home.
