Thorney island and Fishbourne creek

Short eared owl
We headed over to the Deeps at Thorney island and were soon watching a Short eared owl sitting in a hawthorn bush, also a Marsh harrier was hunting over head which put all the waders up,
Also there lots of Wigeon and Teal

Little stint
then we went on to Fishbourne creek were it was still high tide so we decided to wait around for it to drop, we headed out into the back fields and flushed three Jack snipe and five common Snipe, then i spotted a Kingfisher shotting by,  Dad manage to relocate it sitting along the reeds also there were two Buzzards soaring low over head, as the tide started to drop all the waders started  moving onto the mud so soon we found a lovely Little stint feeding alongside Dunlin giving amazing views.

Further down the creek we had Redshanks, one Spotted redshank, greenshank Gadwall, six Goldeneye two male four female, two Water rail one bathing and the other one just sat out in the open, as we were leaving we had a flock of Redwing and one Fieldfare.

  1. Hi Michael,

I am Joseph, you are currently following my blog 'Aberdeenshire Young Birder'. I have just been reading your blog and I must say I really like it. It certainly looks like you have been doing some top quality birding recently. You have some very nice images too, and some great writing.

I am now following your blog, and have added it to my blog list. If you could add my blog to your blog list, that would be much appreciated - any comments on my blog would also be greatly received. I will definitely continue to read and your blog - well done!

    ATB,

    Joseph
