The sun does shine

Sorry about the lack of posting over the last couple of weeks, But on the 5 of Feb me and Dad saw a cracking Paddyfield warbler at Pagham harbour, which showed briefly but right out in the open so you you see the distinctive features.

Lesser Scaup
This Saturday we joined up with Rob and headed of for Wales, our first port of call would be the Common Yellowthroat, when we got there we were one of the first people to get in the car park, when we got out of the car the conditions were all wrong for a species like this to show, it was Raining it was Windy and it was very very cold, so after standing around for about 3 hours we decided to head of the Lesser scaup.

We arrived at Cosmeton lakes and we were greeted with a very close Whooper swan with Mute swans, the Lesser scaup was on show but i bit far way for photos, so we decided to walk round the path to get some more photos, i got some really good photos but as i tried to get closer the bird decided to go to sleep, from here we headed to try and find Bonaparte’s gull but we had no luck, so we decided to go back to the car and the news of Common Yellowthroat seen again.

Common Yellowthroat
When we arrived there you weren't allowed to park in the designated field because it was to muddy, so we had to got down to the main road, so me and Dad jumped out whilst rob parked the car, so we joined the crowed of birders but the bird was seen at the other end of the crowed so we made a mad dash down to the other end and after a 5 minute wait for the bird come out and showed for about a minute,  but you could see the yellowthroat the black mask and the yellow on the bum, it then moved on to patch of mud and kept coming out showing really well rob saw it aswell which was very good as well, from here we headed home happy that we saw such a beautiful Common Yellowthroat

  3. A day of birding dreams by the looks of it and some nicely caught shots. You could have bought it back with you though and dropped it off in Kent.
