Kumelin's Gull

Then today i popped down West Beach for a quick visit but that then turned into a Day because of the find of a Kumelin's Gull found by my very dear friend Harry Ramm and dad, when i arrived at about 8:30 Harry and dad had what they thought was an Iceland gull but after we scanned for about 10-20 minutes there was no further sign all we could locate was an adult Little Gull which was showing very well, so we decided to go check out the gull roost on the Golf course this paid of as Harry picked out the adult Glaucous gull which showed well in the roost there wasn't much else around the golf.

We then decided to head back down to the Cafe for another look at the gull and there was 3 other birders who had Harry's Iceland Gull and said that it was a Kumeline's Gull so we were all instantly shocked that the bird that Harry had found was rarer we had expected luckily enough the bird spent the day at the mouth of the river showing very well so all key features were obtained, there was a steady stream of birders throughout the day and they were all very happy that it was a Kumeline's Gull, i was also luckily enough to get the Glaucous gull  on the beach and was able to obtain very good images of the Gull there was also a 1cy and a 2cy Little gull at the end of Littlehampton Pier, i will be back down there tomorrow to check for other rarities
