Birding Lately

Kestrel
Lately Me and Dad have been busy birding watching seeing some amazing birds such as Red Flanked Bluetail, Artic Warbler, Dessert Wheatear, and Isabelline Shrike.

Well Last Wednesday Rob took Me up to Norfolk to see a Red Flanked Bluetail, when we arrived at the sight everyone was telling us that it was still there showing well and when we arrived were they were viewing the bird it was out of the sigh but not long afterword’s the bird popped up on to a pile of logs and showed very well, this was a long awaited lifer for me and dad after dipping 2 previously,

We then left the sight and planned to do some casual birding around the area but then the pager beeped and said there was a Artic Warbler at Brancaster Staithe which was a lifer for me . when we arrived were the were viewing the bird they said that it was seen for about 45 minutes ago but then i had got on the bird, it was really hard to see at times, but then it came down to eye level at one point were you could get a really good view of the bird you could see the suppercillium and the wing bar which was very noticeable.

Then last Thursday we went for a local Desert wheatear,  previously saw one a Holmes beach last year, when we arrived Dad picked the bird up on the rock and to was really close it then flew on to the beach and landed right in front of Jake Everitt i then crept up to Jake and got really close to the bird it lees then 10 ft. away this was the best view i have ever had of one.

Then on Saturday we then headed down to Isle of Portland for the Isabelline Shrike, when we arrived there was no sign of the shrike, after 30 minutes of searching, we were then informed that bird was seen further back down the path we came up, we headed back down the path, bird had just gone out of view, after five minutes the bird was then watched by us all day as there was nothing else around of interest.

Sorry about no photos of the shrike but the camera wasn’t working and the Artic warbler was too hard to even find
